Asked to design and obtain planning consent on a Grade II listed building in the Lake District National Park on a site where excavations were over two meters below the foundations of adjoining properties; my thoughts were which is the biggest challenge?
The planning officer was happy to discuss our proposals and through detailed consultation a scheme was agreed and planning consent was obtained.
With our structural engineer, we quickly agreed a method for the retaining walls and works quickly got underway.
The resulting sun room nestles into its surroundings perfectly.
We required an extension to the rear of our cottage and contacted Peter Temple with our ideas looking for help and advice.
The property is a Grade II listed building in the Lake District National Park. It is a difficult site, situated in the village, directly on the roadside with restricted access to the rear and set into rising ground. Peter handled all of the preliminary discussions with the planners to find acceptable solutions to any difficulties they foresaw, before submitting the planning application.
The final design owes much to Peter’s design expertise. This was all part of the service he offered saving us so much stress.
He was main contractor throughout the works, co-ordinating all the trades involved into a seamless operation. We were notified of the start date and other phases of the work in advance and always knew what was happening. Peters own staff and sub contractors are competent, friendly and just get on with it. The job came in on time and on budget.
All changes, extras etc were carried out with a 'can do' attitude and absolute financial fairness. We are very satisfied with the way the job was run, and happy with our new room.
